Feeling 22: my birthday
So Thursday was my 22nd birthday. I had an exam the day before and another one the day after, so my actual birthday was just spent doing last minute revision, although I did go out for a lovely meal at Frankie & Benny's with my family. After the exam on Friday I went out for lunch with my friends as a late birthday celebration and also to celebrate finishing our degrees (which is BONKERS). I can't believe how quickly the last three years have gone, and even though it's nice to be able to read/go out/watch films etc without this looming sense of guilt that I should be doing something else for uni, I'm actually quite sad that it's over. To think I was kind of unsure as to whether I even wanted to go to uni at all, and once I was there I loved every minute. There was definitely a lot of stress and last minute panicking, but I cannot emphasise enough how much I've benefitted from this experience.
Anyway, I really enjoyed my birthday. I got some money and chocolate from my parents, some books, some Lush goodies and various other bits and bobs from other family members and friends. I bought myself a gorgeous copy of Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov; my copy was falling apart to the point that I couldn't really read it properly anymore, so even though I've kept it for nostalgic reasons, I couldn't resist this beautiful edition. My best friend bought me The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera which I read in 6th form (a library copy) and loved, but never actually bought. Another friend bought me a Sophie Kinsella novel, since we're always joking about how it'll be nice to read some 'lighter' books now uni's over. Although I do actually quite like Sophie's books, especially for holidays. Another friend bought me F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Beautiful and Damned which I can't wait to read, and I bought myself Humans by Matt Haig which just caught my eye in Waterstones. Can't wait to get stuck in! Also got the new Orangeasm body wash from Soap & Glory which smells DIVINE, although I have so much shower gel to use at the moment so it might be a while before I get round to using it. Also got Sexbomb from Lush which is probably my favourite product from there, and the Sunnyside bubble bar which I love.
I feel a bit old this year, I think just because once 21 is over it's like you have to be an adult, like a genuine grown up. Which is scary. Oh well :)
